Five Features to Look Out When Buying A Security Camera

Security cameras have almost become a piece of necessity in the modern world. Our houses are the most valuable possessions for us because they hold the majority of the things we own. What’s more important, our loved ones live there. Since it’s perfectly natural to worry about our property we cannot always be there to look after it. One of the greatest ways to protect and ‘have an eye’ on your property is owning a surveillance camera. Security gadgets can be found at eBay, Amazon, online stores, like Amcrest and at may other places. But how one can know that he/she is buying a good camera? Here are features you should look out in the security camera before choosing one.

Quality of streaming

In bygone days, security cameras were only able to record pixelated, low-quality videos. Nowadays, thanks to developments in modern technologies video quality has drastically improved. Whether you are looking for a IP camera on Amazon, or you are scrolling Amcrest’s website, you will be able to find a device that can stream and record videos at least at 720p resolution. Some offer even higher quality. However, the highest quality footage may not be your priority, as it is connected with internet problems.

Storage

Most cameras offer some type of storage, whether it is local or cloud. The camera that does not records or saves footage is not very useful. As mentioned above, you can choose cloud storage to save your videos. As another option, you can also have memory cards. However, you must change full memory cards on empty ones on a regular basis.

Motion Sensing

Imagine how much space you would need to record footage on a 24/7 basis. You won’t need to do that if your camera has a feature of motion sensing. Many modern devices, found on Amazon or Amcrest, have that important feature. With motion sensing, your camera will record only when it detects movement in the space. It can also send alarms via e-mail or as a message. Some of the cameras offer audio sensing, which means that your device will only start recording and sending alerts when any type of audio is detected.

Resistance to dust and water

If you want to install your camera outdoor, the first feature you should loo out is a resistance body made from metal. The camera which works outdoors should be waterproof and resistant to severe weather conditions, such as snow, wind, and rain. Without that, the device will be simply useless. Bear in mind that outdoor ip cameras can perfectly well work indoors, however, indoor cameras have difficulties operating outdoors.

Viewing Angle

The angle of view is one of the most important features that you should consider when choosing a security camera. The viewing angle will determine where you position the cameras and exactly how much they can see at a time.
